I enjoy playing the beautiful game as much as any person, in fact I would say I’m quite good when I put any effort in, considering that I don’t really give that much of a shit. But one thing that I absolutely cannot stand is the competitiviy when playing a match. I just don’t see why people have got to get so uptight about winning- It’s a fucking game, jumpers for goalposts. You aren’t actually winning anything at all! It’s as if winning a match means you have a bigger cock or something, I just cant understand it.
The other problem with all of this is that if just one person starts to be a sore winner/looser, everyone on both teams gets frustrated, and the quality of the football dramatically deteriorates. The way I looks at it, and as cheesy as it sounds, winning and loosing doesn’t really matter, its whether or not you enjoy the game, isn’t it?
It also pisses me off that people will give a shit if your team looses, and end up taunting you for about a week. To put it into some context, I’m a Fulham fan. Now this is for one reason and one reason only- my family live there, which is more than the average Man U or Chelsea fan can say for themselves. I don’t follow the Premiership, I had no idea how well Fulham were doing until somebody congratulated me today on The mighty Fulham’s win against Arsenal. So it’s especially annoying when a load of chavs in my form come up to me shouting ‘four nil’ because I haven’t got a clue what they mean by it, and they aren’t likely to understand any witty retorts I give them to get them off of my back.
And at the end of the day, it’s just a little game in which people kick a ball to each other, it dosen't matter at all who the victor is, but, I suppose, it must have some attraction, it’s a multi billion dollar industry, so what do I know?
