  • First day of school

So, As you may have gathered, today was my first day back at school. This was not an event I was looking forward to, for a number of reasons. Let me explain:

    1. It’s pointless- no, this is not a bitch about compulsory education, more about the fact that it’s two fucking hours. I wouldn’t mind if we were spending the whole day at school, but the fact is that I’m getting up for Two Hours in school. And all that we are doing is collecting our new timetables. Pointless much?

    2. Year 11- I’m in the highest year of compulsory education now, and so this means I have to work hard at making sure that I don’t fuck up the rest of my life by failing my GCSE’s. I’m smart enough to work this out for myself, I don’t need an assembly in which I’m told by not one, but two teachers exactly why I need to knuckle down and get to work this year.

    3. Getting to school- I take the train, it’s not a long journey (only one stop) but its an inconvenience walking a couple miles to the train station, and then from the other station to school. I guess I shouldn’t complain really, people have harder walks, but I just cant be arsed to set out at a specific time in order to catch the train, what with there being just one an hour to get to school.

So, I got up at about nine O’clock this morning in order to put out the first post, and sort of fooled around on the internet for a while, then had my lunch and left for school.
And do you know what, it was alright.

So, I was sitting at my computer on the Simply Syndicated site (along with Empireonline it's about the only site I use- can't be arsed with Digg), on the chatroom, when along comes a conversation about Blogs. Now to be perfectly honest, I have always had little to no interest in Blogs. I read the words of Richard Smith, and I occasionally look at Kevin Smith's Blog, but I?m not an avid endorser of Blogs, and I have never had any interest in making one of my own.
So how do we come to me sitting writing to you, is a question that may be on your lips. Quite simply: Peer Pressure. The wonderful Alex Blake gave me a link to his Blog, which I just found hysterical, and Sam Coney gave me a link to his 'Bam's Voyage' a Blog with some very insightful film reviews, and damnit, I just wanted one of my own. But what to write about, I pondered for pretty much that whole afternoon.
The obvious choice would be films. I am quite the expert. I even try to make my own films (we shall get on to that later) which ain't half bad by any fifteen year old's standards, even if I do say so myself. The thing is, what is there to say about stuff like Pulp Fiction or Raging Bull that hasn't already been said. While I would enjoy writing about films all day long, I'm pretty sure that there ain't all that many words to describe the facets of a particular actor.
A Music Blog is right out of the question. I mean, I most certainly don't have poor tastes in music, but I'm just not knowledgeable or musically talented enough to talk about exactly what makes The B-52's by The B-52's the greatest album of all time- It's my opinion alright! For similar reasons, a Blog about Books or Television would be right out of the question. In fact, a review show of any kind is gonna leave me dead in the water (I think that I may write the occasional review though).
So, what about something simple. Something almost like a diary (but not that sad), just me and the Blog, writing down all of my random thoughts as my life goes on. I have some pretty hilarious japes and adventures, so I'm sure I can entertain whoever stumbles across this page for at least a couple minutes. What I'm saying probably isn't that original, what I'm writing might not amuse you, what I'm writing probably has terrible use of the English language, but what do I care, it's all practice, and it makes me smile.

    Ben
