But, you know, I’ve been busy. Saturday I went to the O2 centre in North Grenwich. This wasn’t to see anything in particular, more to grab dinner and a movie. Why I have to travel over Twenty Five miles on the train to do this when I could just a easily travel two stops to Chelmsford to achieve the same purpose I don’t know, especially when we ended up grabbing dinner but no movie, it’s rather silly. But, I think I’m gonna do an entire post on The O2 next month, after I’ve seen Lee Evans there.

I could talk about Big Brother. It was interesting, I find, that the most bland personality in there won. Did everyone forget to vote Rachel (I think that was her name) out? Or was everybody else in the house such a stupid nobhead that the people voted them out first? Whatever happened, the girl with the really thin hair has won now, and so I’m sure that she will be basking in the fifteen minutes- probably less for her- of fame she will be receiving.

So, I guess I’ll talk about whatever is to hand. If you know me, you’ll know that what is to hand is Sprite. More than anything else, this particular drink is the love of my life. It is just perfect in every way. It’s cool and refreshing, and it always rehydrates me. What’s more, I just feel comfortable with myself when I’m holding a Sprite in my hand. It’s almost as if it’s become a part of my character. At the moment I’m on an average of two or three bottles a day. In fact, the other day it shot up because the sweetshop down the road is doing a two for one on sprite.

What I can’t understand is why anyone would go for anything else. When choosing a fizzy pop drink, what are your options? Coke/ Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Tango/Fanta, Lilt, Iron Bru, Tiser or Sprite. From that list, and I’m aware I’m missing loads and loads of drinks, the only choice is gonna have to be Sprite. I mean, let’s look at it logically.

Coke and Pepsi have hardly any flavour, what there is of it just tastes like sugar water to me. Dr Pepper is a similar sort of cola drink, but is has a much stronger taste. It’s actually pretty nice too, but I find that all cola drinks make me thirstier than to start with. Also, if the urban myths are to be believed, Dr Pepper lowers your sperm count! Now, I don’t really give two flying turds about any urban myths, but I’m sure that some people are put off. Tango, Fanta and Lilt are all painted with the same brush in my book. Tango isn’t bad, but it goes flat really quickly. As for Fanta, well, I’ve gone off that ever since I went to Australia in 1999, but that’s another story. Lilt tastes like sick, so I wouldn’t bother with that either. The last two on my list are Iron Bru and Tiser, and both are quite difficult to find in west Essex. I quite like Iron Bru, but it’s not really my thing. Same goes for Tiser, although the reason I don’t drink it very often is that about three years ago I spilt some on the carpet, and no-one could get the stain off. Which leaves me with Sprite, the ultimate in drinking pleasure.

I hope I didn’t come off there as too much of a Connoisseur of the fizzy pop, I really just like my drinks thirst quenching and if I don’t have that, I don’t bother.

Disclaimer: I just want to point out that I am in no way affiliated with Sprite or whoever owns the parent company. I just really fucking love the drink.

  Comments

Football- What’s the point?

I enjoy playing the beautiful game as much as any person, in fact I would say I’m quite good when I put any effort in, considering that I don’t really give that much of a shit. But one thing that I absolutely cannot stand is the competitiviy when playing a match. I just don’t see why people have got to get so uptight about winning- It’s a fucking game, jumpers for goalposts. You aren’t actually winning anything at all! It’s as if winning a match means you have a bigger cock or something, I just cant understand it.
The other problem with all of this is that if just one person starts to be a sore winner/looser, everyone on both teams gets frustrated, and the quality of the football dramatically deteriorates. The way I looks at it, and as cheesy as it sounds, winning and loosing doesn’t really matter, its whether or not you enjoy the game, isn’t it?
It also pisses me off that people will give a shit if your team looses, and end up taunting you for about a week. To put it into some context, I’m a Fulham fan. Now this is for one reason and one reason only- my family live there, which is more than the average Man U or Chelsea fan can say for themselves. I don’t follow the Premiership, I had no idea how well Fulham were doing until somebody congratulated me today on The mighty Fulham’s win against Arsenal. So it’s especially annoying when a load of chavs in my form come up to me shouting ‘four nil’ because I haven’t got a clue what they mean by it, and they aren’t likely to understand any witty retorts I give them to get them off of my back.
And at the end of the day, it’s just a little game in which people kick a ball to each other, it dosen't matter at all who the victor is, but, I suppose, it must have some attraction, it’s a multi billion dollar industry, so what do I know?

  Comments

About Me (real original title)

So I was walking home from school this afternoon, drinking my Sprite, when I realised that I haven’t actually introduced myself properly. So, I guess this post is what the first one should have been, an introduction to me.
My name is Ben, I’m fifteen, and I live and go to school in Essex. I’m half French, in fact I was born in south Paris and lived just up the road from The Tuleries until I was three. I used to be a fluent speaker of my native tongue, but me being a stubborn bastard, I decided at the age of three that living in England meant I didn’t need to know how to speak French. Perhaps If I had remembered I would have already taken my GCSE in the subject, rather than Taking it this year with everything else.
I’m very interested in film, especially the different ways that a director can find to tell a story. In my opinion, the greatest two films ever made are Goodfellas (1990) and There Will Be Blood (2007). However, my favourite film of all time has to be the mighty Anchorman (2004). I take an interest in making films, in fact there are about nine hours worth of my short films just laying about in my room. I’m currently in pre-production of a short film (no title yet) which studies guilt, power, and violence as perceived by our culture. It will probably turn out shit.
I’m also really into Podcasts. I subscribe to about thirty, but my absolute must listen is Movies You Should See, it’s just a great mix of witty banter and fine film criticism. Many a time have I tried to record a Podcast of my own, in fact about a year and a half I had a feed up and running. It was a film review show (quelle surprise) which I wont reveal the title of, as it might make you want to check it out. But really, Podcasting is a whole other post.
My musical tastes are quite varied. At this moment I’m listening to In Rainbows by Radiohead, an album I consider to be the finest of this decade. Looking up and down my iPod, I see Scott Walker, The Pixies, The Kinks, Portishead, The Smiths, The Stooges. You know, the stuff no decent iPod should be without. I have nothing wildly profound to say about music, I just listen to peoples recommendations for me, and if I like it, I get it.
As for books, well, my tastes are improving. About a year ago I took the transition from reading children’s books, to reading more grown up fiction (I nearly said adult books then, would have conjured up a totally different image). My author of the moment is Cormac McCarthy. I just feel that his prose takes fiction to a whole new level, finding beauty in the most horrific events. I’m also a great fan of the brilliant Chuck Palahniuk. If you have never read one of his novels, go out and BUY Survivor. I say BUY because this is a book that you will want to own, it really stands up to repeat readings.
Writing this, I feel guilty that I can’t really say anything more exciting about my life, it’s really quite mundane. But, I guess, I’m still young, and there is plenty of time for me to collect some cool hobbies. It’s not like nothing happens in my life, just that nothing happenes which I can put on an ‘about me’ section of a website.

Ben

  Comments

First day of school

So, As you may have gathered, today was my first day back at school. This was not an event I was looking forward to, for a number of reasons. Let me explain:

1.	It’s pointless- no, this is not a bitch about compulsory education, more about the fact that it’s two fucking hours. I wouldn’t mind if we were spending the whole day at school, but the fact is that I’m getting up for Two Hours in school. And all that we are doing is collecting our new timetables. Pointless much?

2.	Year 11- I’m in the highest year of compulsory education now, and so this means I have to work hard at making sure that I don’t fuck up the rest of my life by failing my GCSE’s. I’m smart enough to work this out for myself, I don’t need an assembly in which I’m told by not one, but two teachers exactly why I need to knuckle down and get to work this year.

3.	Getting to school- I take the train, it’s not a long journey (only one stop) but its an inconvenience walking a couple miles to the train station, and then from the other station to school. I guess I shouldn’t complain really, people have harder walks, but I just cant be arsed to set out at a specific time in order to catch the train, what with there being just one an hour to get to school.

So, I got up at about nine O’clock this morning in order to put out the first post, and sort of fooled around on the internet for a while, then had my lunch and left for school.
And do you know what, it was alright.

  Comments

title-4670206

So, I was sitting at my computer on the Simply Syndicated site (along with Empireonline it's about the only site I use- can't be arsed with Digg), on the chatroom, when along comes a conversation about Blogs. Now to be perfectly honest, I have always had little to no interest in Blogs. I read the words of Richard Smith, and I occasionally look at Kevin Smith's Blog, but I?m not an avid endorser of Blogs, and I have never had any interest in making one of my own.
So how do we come to me sitting writing to you, is a question that may be on your lips. Quite simply: Peer Pressure. The wonderful Alex Blake gave me a link to his Blog, which I just found hysterical, and Sam Coney gave me a link to his 'Bam's Voyage' a Blog with some very insightful film reviews, and damnit, I just wanted one of my own. But what to write about, I pondered for pretty much that whole afternoon.
The obvious choice would be films. I am quite the expert. I even try to make my own films (we shall get on to that later) which ain't half bad by any fifteen year old's standards, even if I do say so myself. The thing is, what is there to say about stuff like Pulp Fiction or Raging Bull that hasn't already been said. While I would enjoy writing about films all day long, I'm pretty sure that there ain't all that many words to describe the facets of a particular actor.
A Music Blog is right out of the question. I mean, I most certainly don't have poor tastes in music, but I'm just not knowledgeable or musically talented enough to talk about exactly what makes The B-52's by The B-52's the greatest album of all time- It's my opinion alright! For similar reasons, a Blog about Books or Television would be right out of the question. In fact, a review show of any kind is gonna leave me dead in the water (I think that I may write the occasional review though).
So, what about something simple. Something almost like a diary (but not that sad), just me and the Blog, writing down all of my random thoughts as my life goes on. I have some pretty hilarious japes and adventures, so I'm sure I can entertain whoever stumbles across this page for at least a couple minutes. What I'm saying probably isn't that original, what I'm writing might not amuse you, what I'm writing probably has terrible use of the English language, but what do I care, it's all practice, and it makes me smile.

Ben

Some of the aforementioned Blogs:
http://bamvoyage.blogspot.com/
http://blakey-bizz.blogspot.com/

  Comments
